What You're About to Install

Stop Slop is a free Claude skill on GitHub. You download it, upload it to Claude, and from that point on every single thing Claude writes for you sounds human.

It works by catching 100+ AI writing patterns before Claude shows you the output. Throat-clearing openers like "Here's the thing." Emphasis crutches like "Let that sink in." Business jargon. Adverbs. Formulaic structures. All of it — gone.

What's in the Skill

8 core rules that target specific AI habits. 100+ banned phrases organized by category. Structural pattern fixes for things like binary contrasts and false agency. Before/after examples so you can see the difference.

You don't need to memorize any of this. Once the skill is installed, Claude handles it automatically. No extra prompting. No editing after the fact.

Step 1: Download from GitHub

Go to GitHub

Open your browser and go to github.com.

Search for "stop slop skill"

Type stop slop skill in the search bar and hit enter. Click the first result. The repo is by Hardik Pandya.

Click the green "Code" button

On the repo page, you'll see a green button that says "Code" near the top right. Click it.

Click "Download ZIP"

A dropdown appears. Click "Download ZIP" at the bottom. The file downloads to your computer. Unzip it — you'll see a folder called stop-slop-main.

What's in the Folder

SKILL.md — the main skill file with 8 rules and a scoring system. references/phrases.md — 100+ banned phrases. references/structures.md — formulaic patterns to avoid. references/examples.md — before/after transformations.

Step 2: Add the Skill to Claude

Open Claude

Go to claude.ai and log in. You need a Claude account (free or paid both work).

Click "Customize"

Click your profile icon in the bottom left corner. Select "Customize" from the menu.

Create a new skill

Click "Create a new skill" and then click "Upload a skill."

Select the stop-slop folder

Navigate to the stop-slop-main folder you unzipped. Select it. Claude reads the skill files and adds it to your active skills.

That's It

The skill is now active. You'll see it listed under your skills. Every writing task Claude does from this point forward goes through the Stop Slop rules automatically.

Step 3: Test It

Ask Claude to write something — an email, a caption, a blog post. Compare the output to what you got before. The difference is immediate.
